It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Washington DC.
The goal of the Embassy is to promote and strengthen the good relations between Malawi and the United States of America as well as the Bahamas, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico that are represented on non-residential basis.
The Embassy’s main focus is the promotion of development and the economic relations through effective transformational development assistance; the promotion of foreign direct investment; trade and tourism in line with the Malawi 2063 Policy, (MW2063). MW2063 aims at creating an "inclusively wealthy and self-reliant nation" by raising the country's status to that of lower-middle income by the year 2030; and, thereafter, attain the upper-middle income status by 2063 or earlier.

Diaspora Medical initiative
The Malawi Embassy in Washington DC, in partnership with the diaspora are fundraising to ship 100 containers of medical equipment and supplies at an estimated cost of $53 million. This initiative directly supports Vision 2063 by addressing critical shortages in Malawi's healthcare system and ensuring equitable access to essential services across Malawi. We have so far shipped 25 (40ft containers) with 7 containers in transit and expected to arrive in Malawi from February 1st to March 17th, 2026. Every dollar will make a difference.
